Welcome to Grace

Dermot and DebraWelcome to our website. My name is Dermot and together with my lovely wife Debra and the most amazing team ever, we pastor Grace Church, a local Tasmanian church here in Clarence Plains. The Clarence Plains area comprises the suburbs, Clarendon Vale, Glebe Hill, Oakdowns and Rokeby. Situated 15 minutes from the Hobart CBD we’re easy to get to by car and we’re also on the Metro Bus route.

On our site you’ll find information about our church and our services. We’re a Christian church that believes in all generations and to that end we run a vibrant kids program every Sunday during our service as well as a terrific Youth program for our teenagers every Friday evening. Our regular men’s breakfasts and ladies events are always a hit.

We love our local community and have been busy renovating the old Rokeby Tavern to create a lovely community meeting space that serves the wonderful efforts of local community organisations and residents. It’s our gift to our community. You can find out more about the Grace Centre HERE.

Church is all about connecting people to Jesus and each other and we work hard to make it as easy as possible for that to happen. We’d love to have you visit with us and want to take this opportunity to invite you to check us out this Sunday. You can find directions to our church service at the Emmanuel School Performing Arts Centre on our Services page. If you have any questions about our church or Christianity in general, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We’d love to see you this Sunday!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our every day lives.
  • We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.
  • We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.
  • We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.
  • We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives, which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.
  • We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives in order to help others more effectively.
  • We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
